Object

To organise international meetings; to study fresh facts relating to physiology, pathology or social science which may be of interest from the point of view of the pathology and hygiene of labour or social assistance; to pass recommendations directing the attention of the authorities to the results of investigations concerning industrial medicine and to inform the public of the efforts of the authorities, universities, hospitals, etc.; to disseminate a knowledge of labour pathology by recommending to learned societies certain subjects as suitable for competitions on such questions. General facts

Founded in 1906, the International Permanent Commission for the Study of Industrial Diseases decided, in 1929, to change its title to the present one. In 1908, it published a pamphlet on medical inspection in Europe and up to 1915 a "Bulletin" containing a bibliography of publications on industrial medicine. (HB 1931) Fondée en 1906, la Commission internationale permanente pour l'étude des maladies professionnelles a décidé, en 1929, de modifier son titre pour le titre actuel. En 1908, elle publia une brochure consacrée à l'inspection médicale en Europe et jusqu'en 1915, un Bulletin contenant une bibliographie de publications de médecine du travail. (HB 1936)

The organisation of international congresses is entrusted to the members of the Commission residing in the country in which the congress is to be held. International congresses held in collaboration with the International Commission on Industrial Accidents. A congress had been organised in Vienna in 1914; it did not take place; part only of the reports were published. Next congress - in 1935, in Brussels.
