Officers

Executive Committee consisting of members of the Bureau and 120 other members, 60 coming from the United States of America, and 60 from different countries. Executive Committee consisting of representatives selected by the several constituent organisations; 12 Vice-Presidents (HB 1929). A World Council consisting of representatives chosen by the various organisations and national and international councils members of the Association, trustees and members of the Bureau of the Association, and also ten additional members appointed by the World Council for a period of four years or until their successors have been duly elected. The President of the Assembly and the Honorary Presidents are ex officio members of the World Council. (HB 1938)

Fonder et maintenir des écoles du dimanche dans tous les pays. To promote Christian education, including organised Sunday-school work (HB 1929). L'activité de cette organisation a un caractère spirituel, éducatif, missionnaire et de bienfaisance; ses efforts tendent plus particulièrement à développer l'enseignement chrétien, entre autres par l'organisation d'écoles du dimanche, à encourager l'étude de la Bible, à propager la religion chrétienne et à répandre dans le monde entier les vertus chrétiennes. The Association derives its income mainly from gifts from individuals, churches, Sunday-schools, the annual subscriptions of national or international organisations members of the Association and the interest on the Association's capital. General facts

L'Association est incorporée sous les lois du district de Colombia (États-Unis) et compte actuellement 300.000 écoles du dimanche avec 30.000.000 de moniteurs et monitrices. Au Congrès de Tokio (Octobre 1920). 1814 délégués s'y réunirent, représentant 30 pays et 75 Églises différentes. HB 1925: Le 9e Congrès eut lieu à Glasgow, du 18 au 26 juin 1924. A ce Congrès assistaient 2.810 délégués représentant 52 pays. Les statistiques relatives aux écoles du dimanche du monde entier donnent les chiffres suivants : nombre d'écoles du dimanche : 347.001; personnel administratif, moniteurs et monitrices : 3.520.192; nombre total d'élèves inscrits à ces écoles : 32.677.611. Le prochain Congrès aura lieu à Los Angelos, U. S. A., en juin 1928. L'Association a tenu onze assemblées mondiales des écoles du dimanche depuis 1889, La douzième Assemblée se tiendra à Oslo (Norvège) du 6 au 12 juillet 1936. Activities

Congrès universel tous les quatre ans, convoqué par le Comité executif. Direct field service is being rendered in Burma, Ceylon, China, Egypt, India, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Palestine, Philippine Islands, South America, the Sudan and Syria. The Eleventh Convention will be held in Rio de Janeiro in 1932 (HB 1929). L'Association accomplit quatre tâches principales : 1° elle réunit tous les quatre ans une Assemblée mondiale de l'école du dimanche; 2° elle subventionne les organisations nationales pour les œuvres missionnaires; 30 sur demande, elle envoie des délégations et des spécialistes dans les secteurs les plus importants; 40 le siège de l'Association sert de centre pour la distribution de la documentation, la publication des bulletins et la diffusion des autres renseignements concernant l'œuvre d'enseignement religieux. (HB 1936) The Association has four main tasks: (1) it convenes every four years a World Sunday-school Assembly; (2) it subsidises national organisations for missionary work; (3) on request it sends delegations and specialists to the most important centres; (4) the seat of the Association serves as a centre for the distribution of information, the publication of bulletins and the dissemination of other information concerning religious education.
